We’re having a baby!!!

Yesterday on social media, we shared some pretty big news — WE’RE GOING TO BE PARENTS! Those of you that have followed our infertility story know how long and hard we have struggled for this day… sometimes we still can’t believe that it’s finally here. We are excited, overjoyed, and (to be honest) a little freaked out… I mean, we’re about to be responsible for a little bitty HUMAN. Whoa!

To the hundreds of you who reached out yesterday to offer congratulations… thank you SO MUCH. So many of you shared that you’d been praying for us throughout this journey… WOW. We were SO grateful and humbled by your love and support. Sharing our news yesterday was such a dream come true (I’ve imagined that post a million times in my head during this journey!) We are currently 11 weeks along and would love it if you’d continue to pray throughout this pregnancy.

We found out that I was pregnant in late August. Since then, so many things have happened that we’ve wanted to share with you guys! We were going to wait until I finished the first trimester to share the news, but truth be told, we’re still a week away… I just couldn’t keep it in anymore! Keep scrolling to read the full scoop on what the last 3 months have really been like!
“Morning” sickness. Riiiiight. Turns out, “morning sickness” actually means “all-day-and-all-night sickness!” The nausea started around week six and has been off and on (mostly on) since then.

— On the bright side, I’ve lost about 10 pounds in the past month… not to shabby!

— I was feeling pretty poopy on the day we took the “announcement” photos in this post… I kept telling myself “just look happy, you can be sick later!” 😂 Nailed it.

— I’ve learned that the nausea can be controlled by eating small meals every 2-3 hours. Jeff still can’t understand how eating helps ease nausea (“Eating’s the last thing I’d want to do if I felt sick!“) but he’s been a real trooper. He makes sure that the fridge stays fully stocked with whatever my latest craving is.

— Life hack: It’s best not to question your wife when she is feeling nauseous and asks for a random food to help make her feel better. You will likely be met with cranky pregnancy hormones and lots of eye rolling. 🙄

Cravings. Ooooh yes! They change from week to week. Weeks 3-7, potato and egg tacos (I couldn’t get enough!) Weeks 8-9, blueberry muffins and apple juice. Weeks 10-11, gimme ALL the carbs!! (and I do mean ALL of them.)

The day we found out (above). When the doctor called with the positive blood results, I was way too excited to put makeup on or to spend time setting up a perfectly-lit professional photo. Cell phone selfies to the rescue! I was FINALLY able to give Jeff the baby onesie that I bought a long, long time ago. He cried (hence the reason for the non-smiling photo on the left).

When we told Jeff’s parents, they said they “had a feeling” that the news was coming! (Grandparents intuition?) Since then, Jeff’s mom has been busy stocking up on baby supplies! She already has a baby swing and high chair (to name a couple).

When we told my parents, my dad cried. My mom was super excited (and to be honest, I think just super relieved for us that our infertility journey was finally over).

I am currently 11 weeks along (due on May 4th!) I’ve had weekly ultrasounds to check on the baby and confirm that the pregnancy is progressing as it should. So far, so good! I’ll never get tired of hearing our little bean’s heartbeat. Like, ever ever.  (Side note: If you’re wedding is close to my due date, have no fear! Jenn is the one that does all of the photography and I’m the one that runs the office, so business will carry on as usual!)

Baby bump? Not yet. Truthfully, it just looks like I’ve had one too many tacos. I can’t wait to take “baby bump” photos and share them with you guys!

We plan to find out the gender. Jeff says he’ll be happy with either sex… just as long as the baby is healthy. Full disclosure: I’m hoping for a girl. Gimme all the frilly dresses and obnoxiously large hair bows. 👧🏻🎀

— Another reason I’m hoping for a girl: Jeff and I can NOT agree on a name for a boy! We’ve tried. He likes to veto all of my (awesome) ideas. I like to veto all of his (terrible) ideas. And it goes on and on like that until I’m convinced that we HAVE to have a girl because our little boy would likely grow up nameless. 😂Thank you guys for following and supporting our journey to have a family! We are over-the-moon excited! Follow along with our pregnancy journey by following us on Facebook and Instagram! (Oh, and read my previous posts about our journey to have a family here.)
