{our 2 cents} wedding reception lighting!

To Future Brides:
We know you’ve never done this wedding planning thing before. We’ve been to quite a few weddings in the last couple of years. We’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. What is worth splurging on and what isn’t. So we decided to start blogging more often about how to make your wedding (and wedding photos) the most awesome they possibly can be. So here goes, our next 2 cents post. All about lighting your reception:

Photography is capturing light. When deciding where to put a couple for photographs, we will choose good lighting over a pretty background any day. The light is so important. This is why we totally, completely, whole-heartedly, absolutely, unreservedly  (you get the idea!) recommend having your reception lighting done professionally.  Professional lighting transforms your wedding site from ordinary to simply stunning. Lighting creates a mood and makes everything — including your centerpieces, cake, and guests — look better. Professional lighting is not as expensive as you may think and in our humble opinion it is worth every penny.

We cannot stress enough that lighting MAKES the reception. Here are a few photos from our recent professionally-lit receptions. We think they speak for themselves. :-)

I tell my friends if you are going to spend $$ on ANYTHING! First and formost, photography. You will have those pictures for life. Then, if you can, video. It all happens to fast and there is so much going on that you miss. And fianlly, lighting! It makes the space! (And of course the bar, thats a given) ha ha
Love you girls!
