Nicole + John's Engagement Photos {San Antonio Engagement and Wedding Photographer} • Bend The Light

This session is extra special to us because we have known Nicole for quite a few years, through the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. Nicole was a huge part of all the weddings we photographed there. She is such a joy to work with. Since then, Nicole was promoted!! WooHoo!!! Buuuuut that means that she and John have moved to New Mexico (insert sad face). The GOOD news is, they’ll be getting married here in SA and we will get to photograph every second! It will be such an honor to be a part of their big day and a great excuse to spend more time with them. I met up with them in downtown San Antonio for their engagement session. We had a perfect afternoon exploring and capturing their love. I can’t wait for their wedding next year!

John outdid himself for the proposal. I couldn’t resist sharing the whole story, as written by Nicole:

John planned the proposal where it all started; Near the golf course at the Hyatt Hill Country. He orchestrated a plan to have my friends and family there. He even got my boss in on it to help with the plot. It was the day before thanksgiving and I was waiting for the office to close early.. time went on and hadn’t heard anything. By now it’s almost 3pm and my boss is nowhere to be found. I get kind of annoyed and text John saying I will be late coming home. Then I see my boss and she comes up to me and says “ I have an opportunity for your future” …”Give me about 30 minutes and I am going to get a call. So can you sit tight?” I had already discussed moving up with Hyatt, so I thought that was what it was about! I got so nervous thinking, am I ready to move? Leave San Antonio? All of these thoughts are running through my head. She gets that call 30 minutes later and makes it short and sweet. She then asks if I want to go for a walk. I am like “Oh boy.. it must be big”. She takes me near the golf area and I squint and see some tall cocktail tables. I say to her.. “Oh that is nice.. is someone having an event?” She said…I don’t know. Why don’t you look closer!” As I approach the first cocktail table I see a framed letter.. I begin to read, “ Nicole……blah blah… love… blah blah.. journey” then I see, “Love John.” I tell my boss to “SHUT UP!” and start walking towards the other tables.. there were 6 total.. each with a floral arrangement, and framed picture. There were all important places we have visited in our lives. I see John at the top of the hill and I was crying at this point. I glance to the left in Luckenbach Pavilion and see a blur of people. He asks me to marry him, I say yes and I turn around. It was all my friends and family. My coworkers! My BFF from Dallas! I couldn’t believe he had planned this whole thing. We celebrated there with some champagne and had a little happy hour. It was perfect.

One of their favorite things to do together is grab a drink at one of their favorite local restaurants or check out a new brewery. I’m so glad we stopped by Rosella Coffee for a quick drink. I love adding personal locations to engagement sessions.
