my new favorite room!

For that past year or so, I’ve been working on redecorating my house. I’ve already shared a couple of projects that I’ve been working on (if you missed them, check them out here and here). Which brings me to my next project… probably the one I am most in love with (so far!)

Two facts about me: (1.) I love frame collages. If I could get away with it, I would have a collage of frames on every wall in my house and (2) I am a bit of a pack rat. Old concert ticket stubs, plane tickets, notes… I keep them. All of them.

So… I recently decided to combine my collage obsession and pack-rat addiction. I spent hours going through all of my old (DUSTY) keepsakes, photos, ticket stubs, etc. until I narrowed down to my absolute favorite things. After multiple trips to Hobby Lobby (50% off frames…woot woot!) and nailing hundreds of holes in my poor wall, I now have an amazing display of all of my favorite memories. I can’t imagine a more perfect wall! Everything that I love most is on this wall, and I get to look at it every single day. I’m one happy girl. :-)

(1.) Subway/plane ticket stubs from the trip to Europe that Jenn and I took in 2005 (2.) A note that my Mama wrote me when I left for a mission trip to Australia when I was 15. I carried the note around in my wallet for 15 years (holy moly I’m kind of OLD!) (3.) The actual house key to my first house (4.) A photo strip of me and my best friend Margaux in high school. We wore dark lip liner and huge hoop earrings… gotta love the 90s! (5. and 6.) When I was 9, my grandma made poodle skirts for me and my 2 cousins for Christmas (because my Grandma is awesome!) Number 5 is the poodle from the actual pattern that she used and number 6 is a photo of us modeling our fab skirts. I’m the one on the far left with the bee-yoo-tee-ful mullet haircut (thanks, Mom). (7.) A poster from a John Mayer concert that Jenn and I went to in 2010. Love John Mayer! (the music, not the personality. Ha!)
(1.) The CD sleeve of my favorite album as a teenager. Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill.” Because 90s grunge music was (and still is) awesome, I don’t care what anyone says. Ha!  (2.) A ceramic cameo that Jenn bought me for my 30th b-day. I love this cameo so much, it actually made me feel better about turning the big 3-0. (2.) One of my favorite paintings by Picasso. Oh, how I love Picasso and his weird art. :-)

The card that Jenn gave me on her wedding day. I was her maid of honor. :-)

A close up of the ticket stubs from our trip to Europe in ’05. Along with a photo of us in front of the London Eye. Random tangent: My hair was red back then. I’ve been thinking of switching back… thoughts?

The Beatles’ “Let It Be” is my all-time favorite song. I even named my dog “Libby” because it sounded like “Let It Be” if you say it reeeeally fast. Sort of. Ehh, I know it’s a stretch… but I named her Libby anyway. Anyhoo, I had no idea that my Dad had this little gem packed away in the closet… the actual “Let It Be” record.  I was kiiiiind of excited. So I snuck it out of my parents’ house. I got my Mom’s permission… but my Dad has no idea that I swiped it… fingers crossed he does not read this because he would surely steal this back from me.
That’s not Instagram, ladies and gentlemen. It’s an actual Polaroid from 1994 of me and 3 of my BFFs to this day! (Summer, Jenn, Kim and me). I rocked that dark lip liner like nobody’s business!
