Jeff and I were “late to the game” with this whole wedding thing… I was 34 and he was 39 when we tied the knot, one year ago today. Sometimes I wonder why it took so long to find each other… but mostly, I’m just grateful that we did.
They say that you’ll “just know” when you find the right person. When we got married, I was PRETTY SURE about Jeff… but the 100% positivity didn’t come until AFTER we were married. It came the day he decided to go back to teaching so he could spend more time with our future family. It comes on the nights that he keeps me calm when I want to be overly-anxious. It comes on the days he cooks for me, and the weekends he cleans the entire kitchen. It comes when he is (always) willing to apologize, even if I’m in the wrong.
They say that the first year of marriage is the best AND the hardest. When this photo was taken, we had no idea that Jeff was headed for a career change a few months later, that I would soon have a major surgery, that Jeff would have a few serious health scares, or that having a family would become an unexpected challenge. It’s been a roller coaster of high highs and low lows, friends. And it’s been amazing.
I have no idea what our life will look like a year from now. If we have our way, we’ll be expecting our first child and drawing up plans for our dream home. But if things don’t go as planned, and I know they may not, I’m ok with that. Because I have this guy to do life with. Which makes me a really lucky lady. ❤️️ -Kaylinn
