How could I resist?

Those of you who have been following our blog for awhile, may already know this, but just as a refresher for our new followers. My husband Chris and I are adopting an infant girl from Ethiopia. We have been working on the paperwork for a little over 3 months. I’ve been telling myself not to start buying baby things until are dossier (aka big stack of paperwork) is in Ethiopia and we are officially on the waiting list. So far, I’ve been really good. Buuuut, a few day ago, my mom and I were in Target and we happened to walk by (ok, ok through) the baby section and I saw a super cute pj set. Now, I’m usually pink-hesitant, but seriously, how could I resist?

We have talked of incorporating elephants and birds in the nursery, so I just could not pass it up. It has ruffles on the back side and little shoes for the feet. We continued to browse and I end up with all this too :)
The blanket is especially special. Our social worker suggested that we get a blanket and sleep with it, so that it smells like us. Then, when we go to visit Maya for the first time, we will bring it with us and leave it with her so that she will begin to become familiar with our smell. When babies are so young, a lot of their experience with the world is through smell, touch and other senses. The more familiarity she has with us and the more that we can keep her schedule, feeding habits, etc. the easier the transition will be for her.

My sweet Momma bought the bibs for Maya. Her first gift from Grandma. Not gonna lie, I teared up a bit in Target when I saw the “Mommy’s Little Lovebird.” It suddenly hit me that there will be a baby girl, my daughter, filling up these clothes one day!Oooooh and here is a teeny tiny peek at our great craigslist find – an  iron crib!  We got a great deal and it is beautiful. To say I’m excited about it would be an understatement. Maya is gonna sleep in this crib :) Now I have to figure out what bedding to make/buy. Planning for a baby girl is fun!!!

Katelyn - She’s gonna be one lucky little girlie!! ;)

Elena - So exciting!! The elephant theme is way fun. :)

JuliaG - I’m SO happy for you Jenn! If I was in your shoes, I couldn’t resist the cuteness either!
