Aubry + Joel’s Wedding {Remi’s Ridge Wedding Ceremony & Wedding Reception, Hidden Falls, Spring Branch TX}

After Aubry’s gorgeous bridal session at the McNay Art Museum, I was counting down the days until their wedding at Remi’s Ridge at Hidden Falls. Their wedding day was everything I imagined, but it almost didn’t happen. Aubry and Joel met on a dating app. Aubry had her app preferences set to only show her men that were her age and older… but Joel is 11 months YOUNGER than Aubry. They were matched during the one and only month that they were the same age! When it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be!!! Their first date was within the week of Aubry’s birthday. I’m a sucker for a great “how we met story,” and theirs is a pretty great one. :)

My favorite part of their wedding day was Aubry and Joel’s first look (see those photos below). Their reactions were almost identical seeing each other for the first time. Total joy and excitement!!! Congratulations, Aubry and Joel!! I hope you are having a wonderful time in Punta Cana.

Story of their engagement – by Joel

I left San Antonio for Austin to spend the weekend with Aubry. At this point I had already planned on proposing at somewhere outdoors in a romantic spot along the river. Her ring was perfect and I even tried it on my pinky finger a few times to see how it would look in sunlight. I was so excited.

Friday night I told her it would fun to take a hike the next morning as it was a highly recommended activity to do in Austin. The following morning, Aubry, me and my Siberian husky Athena, all headed out for a hike. Unfortunately it had rained a bit the night previously, so when we got to the trail it was covered in mud. My plan in mind, I said it wasn’t a problem. Aubry, on the other hand, kept repeatedly trying to scrap the hike and do something else. I told her it would be worth it, but she almost got the whole hike called off. Finally we made it out of the mud and to the river. Finally we reached a beautiful clearing with a neat overhang and some spring water dripping all around us. I knew that it was the perfect spot. As I was preparing myself for the proposal a lady was walking by. I decided I’d ask her to take our picture if she didn’t mind. Aubry, thinking it was just a picture had no idea. As we started to pose, I bent down really quick and grabbed the ring out of my bag. The lady knew immediately and played along perfectly, taking pictures the whole time.

I had a great little speech made about how Aubry was perfect for me and I couldn’t imagine spending my life with anyone else. It was going to be a real tear-jerker if you will. However, none of that actually ever came out of my mouth. In real life, I was caught up with adrenaline and my mind went blank. I pretty much spurted out ‘will you marry me’.  Aubry said yes and we got the photos from a very nice and understanding passerby.

 

I am obsessed with the detailing on Aubry’s rings. Isn’t it stunning?!Aubry + Joel, THANK YOU for including us in your gorgeous wedding at Remi’s Ridge! Congrats to you guys!
