amanda & steven {jw marriott wedding & reception, san antonio, tx}

I’m always excited to post our weddings, but I am especially stoked about posting Amanda & Steven’s wedding images. They’re a quirky/memorable/special couple… Soon enough, you’ll understand why.  :-) Lets start with what Amanda & Steven call their “New York Love Story…” Here’s a shot of Amanda & Steven’s wedding invitation, which tells your allllll about it:

(Announcement accordions and all paper pieces done by the fabulous Mr. Boddington’s Studio – www.mrboddington.com)

In case you’re squinting to read the story, here it is: :-)

December 11, 2009:
Amanda packs up and leaves little old Fairfield, Texas
for New York City to pursue her high-fashion dreams.

January 27, 2010
While shopping for cashews one day in Brooklyn, Steven strikes up a chat
with the girl holding a bag of pecans. He loves her Texas twang.

May 16, 2010
On their first date, Amanda wonders is Steven wears his hair
in a pompadour every day (he does). Steven wonders if there is a law
that prohibits vegetarians from dating meat-eaters (there isn’t).

July 3, 2010
After asking her twice, Steven officially proposes to Amanda in
Washington Square Park. Amanda officially says yes.

April 9, 2010
Vowing to always shop for groceries together,
the happy couple ties the knot in San Antonio.
(Speaking of, be sure to check out their grocery store engagement session!)

Now that you have the history, lets get to the photos! The happy, fun, anything-but-traditional photos. :-) Here are our favorites from Amanda & Steven’s big day. Enjoy!
-Jenn & Kaylinn

Amanda & Steven’s wedding ceremony took place outdoors, at the gorgeous San Antonio JW Marriott Hill Country Resort and Spa. Their wedding reception was held indoors in the JW Marriott Sunday House.
undefinedRemember, we said the photos were anything-but-traditional. Check out Amanda’s beeeeautiful, fun, out-of-the-ordinary wedding ensemble from J Crew. :-)
undefinedundefinedundefinedIf you’re a long-time reader of our blog, you’ll (of course) remember Steven’s gravity-defying pompadour from their engagement session. For months, we’ve wondered “How the heck does he get his hair to stay like that?!” Needless to say, I was more than excited to be allowed to photograph the magic as it unfolded. ;-)
undefinedAnnnnd… the finished product. It’s quite a masterpiece!
I love this shot of Steven (the New Yorker) in his Texas hotel room, complete with Texas longhorn artwork. :-)undefinedSteven sent this special note to Amanda right before the ceremony. These shots make me smile. :-)
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedI call this shot “The collar pop.” :-)
undefinedundefinedAs you all know, we love “first looks” (the special moment that happens between a bride and groom when they see each other before the ceremony). Amanda & her dad are incredibly close, so she came up with the idea to do a special ‘first-look’ with her father. This was, by far, my favorite moment of the day.

Amanda & Steven’s wedding ceremony was the smallest, sweetest, most intimate wedding we’ve ever shot. A total of 5 wedding guests and 3 instrumentalists. :-)
undefinedAmanda, your scrunched-nose laugh is adorable. :-)undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedThis is Amanda’s “America’s Next Top Model” face. I’d say she nailed it. :-)
undefinedundefinedundefinedOne of our favorite details at Amanda & Steven’s reception was the Dublin Dr. Pepper cart. How cute is this?!
undefinedundefinedAll of the wedding guests (yes, all 7 of them!) enjoying a Dr. Pepper toast. Love this! :-)
undefinedundefinedWith 1 bride, 1 groom and 5 wedding guests, one reception table is all you need. :-) Another amazing job by the incredible team at Viridian Design. The BEST floral design AND event coordination studio in Texas, if you ask us. :-)

The last few shots were so much fun to take. As you’ve learned, Amanda & Steven and quirky and different – so we decided to do something a little different too. :-)  We went outside of our colorful/natural-light/typical style and took some indoor, dramatic portraits, just for fun. :-) After all, if any couple can pull off shots like these – it’s Amanda & Steven. :-)undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedAmanda & Steven, congrats again on being the new Mr. & Mrs. Gallion. We had a blast with you guys. :-)
