5 Gorgeous Outdoor Engagement Photo Locations in San Antonio, TX

Hooray!!! You’ve picked a wedding date, a photographer and probably your ceremony and reception venue as well! With those decisions marked off of your to-dos, it is on to the fun stuff…. like your engagement session!

It is no secret that I LOVE engagement sessions. If you are looking for outdoor engagement photo locations in San Antonio, Texas, this is the post for you. All of our wedding collections include an engagement session because we truly believe that they are an essential part of the process.

During your engagement session, you’ll have the chance to get to know me (Jenn) and I will get to know you and your fiance! What we learn at this session will make a tremendous impact on how your wedding day flows. Everyone is nervous about being photographed, but after 20 minutes or so you will get comfortable… I promise! And when your big day comes, you will feel like a pro because of the practice you had during your engagement session!

Back to the decisions…As you start to plan for your engagement shoot, you will need to choose a location for your session. We find that most of our clients lean towards either natural/outdoor locations or bright/colorful, more urban locations. If you are drawn to pretty light, green trees, and natural settings, here are 5 gorgeous outdoor engagement photo location ideas in and around San Antonio, TX. These are just a few of my favorite spots! We love to shoot in new spots too! We’ve photographed sessions on family farms, city parks, downtown streets and even inside a grocery store.

Just outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown, the San Antonio Riverwalk stretches into the King William neighborhood. This portion of the riverwalk is lined with trees and stone pathways and is a great way to include the iconic San Antonio Riverwalk into your engagement session while avoiding the crowds of downtown. Step up from the riverwalk into the King William neighborhood… A stroll through the oak-lined streets will take you back in time and provides dozens of beautiful backgrounds just within a few short blocks. Everytime I shoot in Southtown, I find a new spot to love, which makes it one of my favorite outdoor engagement photo locations in San Antonio.  For more images from this King William area engagement session, click here.

 

 

Located in North Central San Antonio, Phil Hardberger Park is a piece of the country inside of the city. The light streaming through the many varieties of trees and plants is always magical. The numerous walking paths make it possible to get to the fields of tall grass, even in your fabulous heels. If you are looking for an outdoor engagement photo location in San Antonio that feels like you drove out to the country, Hardberger Park may be the winner!!

If you want a bit of a city feel to your nature-themed session, Hemisfair park may be the ideal spot for you. Located at the foot of the Tower of the Americas in the middle of downtown San Antonio, this park has tons of benches, brick walkways, and landscaping to add interest to the images.

For another bit of the natural mixed with the urban, the newest stretch of the Riverwalk near the Historic Pearl Brewery is a great option. We can walk down by the river, sit on a nearby bench, stroll over one of the bridges and still have a time for some images near the buildings of the Historic Pearl. As they continue to develop the Riverwalk, this area is constantly growing and changing making the Pearl a popular outdoor engagement photo location in San Antonio.

Ok, so this one isn’t technically IN San Antonio. Gruene is a tiny Texas town just north of San Antonio. It is the perfect outdoor location to add some country charm to your engagement photos. The beautiful Comal River is nearby too, so we can end your session barefoot in the river.
